Welcome

Haven Day Centre (leagally named DCF Premier Workshops) provides a stimulating environment, offering various activities, and day-care or assistance, to adults with restricted mobility, sensory impairment, or who have learning support needs. All this takes place in a caring Christian environment.

Based in Filwood Park, Knowle West in Bristol, 2015 marked the 30th anniversary of our work and over this time many hundreds of people have known a new sense of belonging, and of being valued.

We hope you like the content in the links above and our Taste Of Haven and Garden Of Haven websites.

The M Shed

The M shed is a museum all about Bristol. It has exhibits about Bristol people, Bristol places and Bristol life!

Peter and Paul had a lovey day with Angela and Charlotte learning about Bristols past and present!

There were lots to look at and lots of things to do including using interactive exhibits and even being able to get on and look around a real 'old green' bus, sit in a  war time bomb shelter and trying on school uniforms, teachers and pupils, from the Victorian times! We plan to do more trips here with other people so that everyone can experience the magic of learning about Bristols Culture!

Life Skills at the Create Centre!

The Lifeskills Centre aims to help improve the lives of people with learning difficulties by providing realistic sets where people can learn and practise independent living skills.

The Centre provides a space where people can take their time to learn at their own pace. The realistic scenarios simulate everyday problems and allow people to learn how to deal with them whilst in a safe environment. This could range from deciding which types of food they should be buying at the supermarket to how to react in a house fire. There is even the opportunity to practise making a 999 phone call. Have a look at their website to learn more about it! http://lifeskills-bristol.org.uk/about-the-centre/

We have completed 2 trips so far to the Life Skills and have a 3rd already booked! Everyone so far have come back telling everyone else about some of the skills they have learned and practiced. In the picture above you can see, Chris, Susan, Charlotte, Roger and David at the beach learning how to stay safe whilst at the beach and in the sea. We learned about the different flags when swimming in the sea, what to do if someone or themselves were in danger at sea and how to protect ourselves from the sun as well as many others things!

We have had lots of Students visiting us from St Brendans College. Staff and members are thrilled to be working with the students, the students have been getting involved with an array of activities that go on at Haven Day Centre and we are glad that we can contribute towards their learning.

David here is Cooking with one of the Students, he enjoyed bakig with her and certainy seemed to enjoy eating the cakes too!

As well as our main website we also have two extra sites that show off the great things happening here:

  • Taste Of Haven --- We are no longer providing meals for our members and we would like to remind any attending members to bring with them their packed lunches. However we still like to show off some of the previous meals that were cooked here along with the amazing baking completed by our members. To see these things please visit Taste of Haven.
  • Garden Of Haven --- At Haven we have a large garden with trees, flowers, vegtable patches, a pond, oudoor games and lawn space. There's plenty to do outdoors and this website shows off some of the fun and good work happening there.
